In Isuyama, a rural community in the Amazon near Puerto Maldonado, children stopped attending school after age 12 due to the lack of classrooms. With a budget of €50,000, the project set out to build the missing spaces while maximizing shade — the key condition for learning in this climate. Two identical volumes were created: one enclosed with three classrooms, and another left completely open under a large ventilated roof. This shaded, flexible space becomes the heart of daily life — for play, study, rest and gathering. Both structures are elevated to prevent flooding and built with simple wood and steel systems, using large sloped roofs for ventilation and rain protection. With minimal means, the project extends education and creates a generous space where community life can unfold.
